PAGE 3 of 6 - Making the Air Compressor Accumulator Tank
I went one day to the workshop of a friend of mine, since i do not have the proper tools to work with thick metals. My friend has big vertical drills, all sort of power tools as well as welding and tig welding. So first, we began by discussing how to work with the fire extinguisher, and what sort of connections should we place.

My friend has a very nice and well-equipped workshop! |
We decided to use these connectors for outlets |
We need a total of 4 holes, but let's start with the first two |
The hole is 10mm, the connector will be welded... |
So far so good:
Unfortunately, we both had not enough time to finish this. Moreover, we are both leaving for a weekly motorcycle camping event, so welding and the rest... after a week!
Plans changed - 5/10/2010
The material chosen for the connectors was not proper to weld, so we decided to use metallic connectors. But these connectors does not have the BSP thread standards used for compressed air connectors - therefore i will use a special connector to convert these threads into BSP standards.

|
|
We used metallic connectors instead |
Manos welded them with TIG - An excellent job!!! |
GENEROUS amounts of Tefon tape must be used with pneumatic connections |
|
|
|
These are the connectors that i will use |
First, i screw the thread adapter to the metallic connector |
I use adapters on both sides |
|
|
|
On this adapter i can connect any sort of BSP standard connector |
This is gonna be the outlet, so i tap it with a bended hose just for test |
An L connector for the other side (inlet) |
Ready for test!

My next addition will be the smd pick-and-place, for which i already have the pump (USD4) and a manual dispenser (USD 2) which i will hack. Both the solder paste dispenser and the pick and place will be housed under the same box, will have the same foot pedal for operation, and will have a switch to choose which one i currently use.
