PAGE 2 of 2 - Scanning the output of an RC6 compatible Philips remote control I happen to have a Philips remote control for my DVD player which operates with the RC6 protocol. With the proper triggering settings on my oscilloscope, i managed to capture two sequential transmissions from the remote control to measure the interval between them. To capture the IR signal, i connected the oscilloscope's channel to the output of a TSOP 1838 IR receiver.
Afterwards, i changed the time/div to "zoom" into one transmission signal. This way i measured the time required for a complete transmission to finish: 23.1 mSec. I also took two sequential snapshots after pressing button "1" twice, to demonstrate how the toggle bit works:
As for the carrier frequency... With the same configuration that i used to detect the RC5 carrier frequency, i detected the carrier frequency of the RC6 protocol as well: The carrier frequency is 36 KHz, similar to the RC5 protocol.
