Meet Oberon, the wheelchair explorer bot
posted December 1 2010 17:54.20 by Giorgos Lazaridis

Here is Oberon, a video controlled long range robotic avatar made by Brad from lucidscience. The bot is an old design, and one of the very first robotic projects of Brad with long range remote control. Oberon is designed so that it can traverse just about any terrain and operate almost a mile away from the base station. It has a camera and it sends back color video, mounted on an articulated head that can pan or tilt to survey the surrounding area. The operator can also speak through the robot!
Oberon's mechanics are taken from a discarded electric wheelchair and mixed together with a welded frame, some standard RC parts and other components. Visit this link for more info. Thanks Brad!
