Rock Paper Scissors Playing Glove
posted November 2 2010 16:19.29 by Giorgos Lazaridis

SentryGun53, also known from his Airsoft Sentry Gun, made another Rock Paper Scissors Glove. We had seen one similar in the past, but this one has a simpler implementation. Instead of flex sensors (which is kinda too much), he used two simp...

Homemade Men Of War Game Console
posted October 24 2010 11:20.25 by Giorgos Lazaridis

I made this Men Of War game console for playing this excellent on-line game faster. This console puts all the important shortcuts in the palm of my left hand. But most important is the joystick with the automatic Direct Control Mode engagement. Upon joystick movement, the console send not only the arrow key...

DIY Rotary Joystick for CNC
posted October 14 2010 18:51.40

rdagger68 made a custom joystick to control his CNC. Although there are ready made solution for that, non of them are customizable and so compact sized.
With a few parts found in his drawers, an Atmel ATMega88 to implement a firmware-only implementation of a USB HID joystick, a dot matrix display to show the current axis, a 7 seg led for the speed and some home made pcbs the result is more than satisfactory and as is enclosed to a home milled case it even looks pro.
More details, schematics and parts list can be found here.

Infinite Bubblewrap
posted October 14 2010 18:33.02

Chris Aloisio and Ryan Casey, students at the Worcester Polytechnic Institute made this custom glove-based game as a project.
The object is to have a glove based controller that gives you the sensation of popping bubble wrap using sensors and motors on the fingers, without the need for actual bubble wrap.
This game first wor...

An arduino equipped bar table
posted September 30 2010 20:48.03

mettapera build a small bar inside a table and in order to spice it up added a seven-band audio spectrum equalizer with both LCD screen and RGB leds and a smoke machine. All this is controlled by an Arduino and the bar is supported by a gas spring to help the lifting.
A neat small corner transforms in a sec to a mood changing place and the "Zorba the Greek" soundtrack helps the most. :)
Arduino code and more details can be found here.

Lego Green Lantern Power Battery
posted September 10 2010 19:06.58

JustJ0n made a replica of Green Lantern power battery from Lego. But what is a lantern without a ring to power it up?
Inside the lantern is an Arduino responsible for activating the lights when the RFID ring is near it.
A nice mixture of fantasy comics and modern technology coming together.
For complete info and more photos you can check here.

Automatic Harmonica
posted September 8 2010 16:42.27

toka15l is building an Arduino controlled automatic harmonica, even though the project is not completed yet and modifications needed in the programing and some noise dampening material in the motor case, if you listen close you can recognize the "Daisy Bell" tune played.
A melodic project we wait to hear it completed.

Autonomous Quad Rotacaster Omni-Bot
posted September 8 2010 16:30.14

About a month ago we presented R J McNamara's attempt to build an Omni-wheeled Bot, what that robot was lacking was the Rotacaster Omni-wheels cause the Rotacaster wheels did not existed in Lego Technics format.
Now this is changed and a new robot R J made, is equiped with 4 sets of the new wheels allowing it to move and manuever in any direction smoothly that you forget the 4x Ultrasonic Sensors to aid in navigation.
For more info here is the place to look.
