Kurt Schulz
has a scooter, a plain ordinary scooter which transports him around the city.
One day he decided to make a simple battery state indicator for his scooter, while he builded it in a nights time he saw a screen, a TouchShield Slide OLED display with touch screen.
That screen must go to the scooter he though but what to do such a screen if the only thing in it is a mere battery state?
So Kurt added time and date, temperature, lean gauge with resettable max L-R indicators, current speed, resetta...

Smart Blocks

Shenwei Liu & Hang Li made these smart blocks for their INFO4320 Final Project. Blocks are 3D printed boxes filled with accelerometeters, wireless cards, microcontrollers and IR sensors that can sense one the other, communicate, control each other and respond to hand gestures. They can act as photo frames, memo pads, share the same canvas and communicate with real time update to create a simple game for two. Watch the video for all appications of this excellent project.

The iPhone Inspired DIY Kitchen Touch Screen Project

Ryan from studio-lights builded a touch screen pc for his wife's kitchen that acts as a recipe database, barcode scaner for food inventory, internet acces and much more. The only thing you can see is the screen framed to look as a photo frame when not in use and nothing more. The interface is designed to look as iphone's You can read the whole project here.

HDD clock with LCD Touchscreen controller

Jason Amsel and Konstantin Klitenik made a clock from an old hard drive and also used an LCD touchscreen acting as display and controller for time setting. HDD clocks are not new but combined like this i think its the first time. In the page you can find complete documentation, schematics, scripts and video links showing the clock in action. Watching time never was more fun.
